Commercial Property covers your physical business assets — your building (if you own it), equipment, inventory, furniture, and fixtures — against covered perils like fire, theft, vandalism, and certain weather damage. It can also include business interruption coverage, which pays your lost income if a covered event forces you to temporarily close.
Standard Commercial Property policies do not cover flood damage. In Florida this is critical — flooding from hurricanes and heavy rain is a separate peril that requires a separate flood insurance policy. We strongly recommend adding flood coverage for any Florida business, especially those in coastal or low-lying areas.
A BOP bundles General Liability and Commercial Property into one policy at a discounted rate. If you need both coverages — which most businesses do — a BOP is usually the better value. Standalone Commercial Property makes more sense if you already have General Liability elsewhere or if your business doesn't qualify for a BOP.
Carriers typically insure your property at replacement cost value — what it would cost to rebuild or replace your assets at today's prices, not what you originally paid. We'll help you make sure your coverage limit is accurate so you're not underinsured if you need to file a claim.
Most small businesses pay between $500–$3,000 per year depending on your building size, location, type of business, and value of your assets. Florida's weather risk can affect rates — we shop multiple carriers to find you the most competitive price.
